Over 55 travel insurance
Our travel insurance policies for travellers aged over 55 have been designed with flexibility in mind so that no matter what the destination, duration or activity, you will always have a choice of cover to protect your interests.
What we have noted is that with the NHS actively encouraging over 50-year-olds to visit their local GP surgeries to take a "Mid life Mot", this has resulted in millions of healthy people taking medication for conditions such high blood pressure and cholesterol purely as a precautionary measure.

However, when it comes to travel insurance companies, most ask you to declare if you have ever been prescribed medication for these conditions and charge you an additional rate for full coverage.
We don't do this. If you are aged between 55 and 74 and take stable and well-controlled medication, for conditions that don't require reviews more than twice a year and provided your medication has not been increased in the last three months then your covered as standard.

Travel insurance is not a substitute for taking out a private medical insurance policy.
Any queries, then please call as we are open 7 days a week

In addition, most insurers ask about serious conditions in your past and ask you to declare these. What we are interested in is in the last twelve months only so if you have had say, cancer, when you were younger but have been cancer and medication free for more than 12 months then as far as we are concerned this has no bearing on the risk of insuring you and therefore we don't charge you an extra fee. It's a refreshing approach we feel.
Getting an online Quote
Our approach has always been to offer the traveller the choice when it comes to travel insurance. Following a simple quote stage where we determine your needs, the policy options are laid out on screen in such a way that you can easily see what is covered and more importantly whats not covered under each policy.
Customers who are interested in the most cost effective options have the ability to further reduce the policy prices by removing elements such as baggage and cancellation cover and increasing the excesses.

As a company, we use a number of insurers and they each have different approaches to medical screening. In the main, their approaches have improved and we have amongst our stable of products, insurers who will cover in excess of 1,000 medical conditions.
What about the EHIC, Isn't that enough?
The European Health Insurance Card or EHIC is designed to ensure that you will receive free or reduced cost emergency medical treatment in any of the EU member countries - plus Switzerland - and is available for those aged 16 and over free of charge.
It is important to remember that the EHIC is for emergency hospital visits only and will not entitle you to any other form of treatment. It will also not cover the cost of emergency repatriation to the UK if needed and will not pay for any of the other benefits associated with a travel insurance policy including baggage, cancellation, personal liability cover, etc. To find out more about the European Health Insurance Card, please click here.
